You want a solid set of songs from one of the best pop groups? Try NKOTB!
Calling all Blockheads! This one’s for you!
This month, New Kids on the Block restarted their residency again at Dolby Live at Park MGM here in Las Vegas, after a killer Summer here on The Strip. This time, their performances extend into 2026, which means more hits, more dancing, and of course, more singing. There’s nothing quite like a New Kids on the Block show. It’s a communal experience, really, considering the group has been touring for nearly four decades. Imagine that. A group that can sustain a fan base that strong, where they can still perform for their Day One fans and new ones.
It’s a special kind of superstardom, really. Few can match a track record like that. What can make it even better though is some karaoke to either warm-up for the concert or wind down. Here at KAMU Ultra Karaoke, we love celebrating the legends, and NKOTB ranks top notch. Here are five reasons why New Kids on the Block is the best group to sing at karaoke, with a song for each reason.
- Everybody can sing, to varying degrees.
Sometimes you just want to be in your private KAMU suite and sing a little bit. Other times, you want to sing a lot. With New Kids On The Block you have that choice. Be front and center belting, or fall to the back and just sing a few lines.
Song choice: “Step By Step” – All of the guys get a line on this one!
- Hit the high notes if you wish.
Not everyone likes the high notes in songs, but some really really do. It’s a skill or just something fun to try. So why not pick a New Kids song? Jordan Knight loves a high note, and so will you.
Song choice: “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever)” – This one has Jordan hitting the highest of notes.
- Be a backup singer and/or dancer.
So all of your friends are with you, and you just want some backup support, while you and another friend sing the most. Kind of like Jordan Knight and Donnie Wahlberg. Well, you can have a whole choreographed dance number with most New Kids on the Block songs and get to sing.
Song choice: “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” – You’ll be hard pressed to find someone who can’t do the signature dance moves to this song or sing the “Oh Oh Ohhhs.”
- A solo Blockhead is still a Blockhead.
So you love NKOTB but want to sing your own solo song. There’s room for that too. Not everyone has to be up there at the front of the private suite with you. You can be singing solo. Have everyone hold the lighters (aka cellphone flashlights) in the crowd.
Song choice: “Please Don’t Go Girl” – This one is mainly a Joey McIntyre special, and it can be yours too.
- Make it a cover!
No, we don’t mean the New Kids song “Cover Girl,” though if you are a Day One fan, then by all means choose that deep cut! But New Kids on the Block can also cover songs like nobody’s business.
Song choice: “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time)” – That way you honor both the New Kids and The Delfonics with this one!
